Charred Zhoug Chicken with Lemon Dill Cream

I'm a huge fan of cilantro and jalapeno. I stumbled upon the zhoug sauce at Trader Joe's and have been putting it on everything. I used to make my own herb marinades for pan searing chicken, but this is a quick and easy alternative. The bold and bright flavors really complement the savory chicken thighs.

These miso sesame brussel sprouts make a great side to the zhoug chicken.

Ingredients

Zhoug Chicken

  • Trader Joe's zhoug sauce
  • 2 chicken thighs

Lemon Dill Cream

  • 1 lemon's juice
  • 1 tbs sour cream
  • 1 tsp dried dill
  • 1 clove of grated garlic

Instructions

  1. Coat the chicken thighs in the zhoug sauce, let it marinade for 5-15 minutes.
  2. Heat a skillet on high heat. Once hot, add a drizzle of olive oil.
  3. Put the chicken thighs skin-side down into the skillet until charred. I did 7 minutes each side.
  4. Mix the cream ingredients together including the lemon juice.
  5. Let the chicken cool for 5 minutes, coat in the sauce.

Notes

Zhoug sauce from Trader Joe's is a Yemini-inspired sauce. It's like a spicy pesto.
